The raindrop technique involves the amazing power of essential oils, mixed with a variety of massage techniques including back massage, vita flex massage and heat application. The technique is designed to bring the body back into structural and electrical alignment. Often many types of spinal problems and misalignments are caused by toxins that lie dormant within the spine. The use of essential oils helps to dispose of these viruses within the spine, helping its structure return to original design.

History:

The Raindrop technique was developed by Dr. Gary Young during the 1980’s based on his research with essential oils as anti-microbial agents, and prompted by some fascinating information he learned from an elder among the Lakota Indian Nation in South Dakota. This Lakota elder shared with Dr. Young that several generations ago, his ancestors regularly migrated north across the Canadian border into the northern regions of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where they often witnessed the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. When the Aurora Borealis was on display, those who were ill or had complicated health problems would stand facing the dancing listed and hold their hands out toward the lights and inhale deeply. Their belief was that the air was charged with healing energy from the Aurora Borealis. Mentally, they would “inhale” this energy into their spine and then out through nerve pathways to affected areas in the body.

This process stimulated an incredible healing effect for many of his ancestors. Effleurage (feather finger stroking) became associated with this tradition after the borders were closed and the Lakota could no longer migrate north. Restricted to their reservations, they began practicing this energy process mentally, coupled with light stroking to facilitate the spreading of energy through the body.

It was this traditional that provided the promptings and began a process that developed into The Raindrop Technique Since 1989, the Raindrop Technique has received an enormous amount of praise from users around the world for its ability to help ameliorate spinal abnormalities such as scoliosis and kyphosis, and facilitate tissue cleansing.

Application Techniques:

• Aromatherapy – Raindrop technique uses seven single essential oils, two blends and one essential oil massage blend during the session. This is in congruence with the French application of aromatherapy where  the essential oils are applied NEAT (undiluted) to the body.

• Vita Flex Technique – Vita Flex was brought to the US in the 1920s by Stanley Burroughs. It is an ancient Tibetan healing methodology meaning “vitality through the reflexes”. Its theory is based on the fact that slight pressure applied to the body creates an electric charge that is therapeutic to the body. This is known as piezoelectric.

• Feather Stroking - This is similar to a massage term technique called effleurage.  In this procedure, this technique, was termed by the Native American Indians.  After the borders were closed and the Lakota could no longer migrate north, restricted to their reservations, they began practicing this energy process mentally, coupled with light stroking to facilitate the spreading of energy throughout the body

• Moist Heat - A Hot compress is laid on the clients back to assist the Therapeutic Essential Oils to get deeper into the tissue. This will relieve stiff, sore, achy muscles and facilitate detoxification and healing.  The compress is left on the clients back for 10-15 minutes. Being a Reiki practitioner, I take this time to provide Reiki, aiding in allowing the body to heal itself.
